Yoshi’s tragedy novel series Deep Love has an anime film project in the works. The announcement was included in Deep Love Again, which is a web manga adaptation drawn by Meira Hisaka published on the Comic Days website.
Ayu is a 17-year-old high school student and a prostitute. She has a heinous view of the world, and believes that money is the only important thing. She lives with her boyfriend Kenji, who is a drug-user, and spends her school days with her one and only friend, Reina. One day, a new encounter changes Ayu’s life, and she is finally able to find love.
Yoshi published Deep Love in 2000 on mobile for four volumes. The series was printed by Stars Publishing between December 2002 and July 2003. The novel has had adaptations that include manga and live-action. Each story arc–”Ayu no Monogatari,” “Real,” “Pao no Monogatari,” “Host,” and “Reina no Unmei”–have been adapted into their respective manga counterparts, where three have been drawn by Yuu Yoshii, and one by Akiyo Kurosawa and Tetsu. The franchise has a total of 8.4 million copies in print.
Two live-action series aired on TV Tokyo, adapting “Ayu no Monogatari” and “Host” in 2004 and 2005, respectively. A live-action film also premiered in 2004.
