The official website for Satelight’s television anime of Kōji Natsumi’s Girly Air Force light novel series began streaming the anime’s second promotional video on Friday. The video previews the anime’s opening theme song “Break the Blue” by Run Girls, Run!
Katsumi Ono (Senki Zesshō Symphogear AXZ, G, and GX; Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D’s and Arc-V) is directing the series at Satelight, and Shingo Nagai (WorldEnd, New Game!) is overseeing the series scripts. Tōru Imanishi (WorldEnd, Ragnastrike Angels) is adapting Asagi Tōsaka‘s original character designs for animation, and Imanishi is also serving as chief animation director. Hiroyuki Taiga (Xenosaga: The Animation, Horizon in the Middle of Nowhere) is the mechanical designer and and combat supervisor. “I’ve Sound” is composing the music.
Voice actresses Yūka Morishima, Hitomi Ohwada, and Shiori Izawa will perform the show’s ending theme song “Colorful☆Wing” as their characters.
In the novels’ story, mysterious flying creatures known as Zai suddenly appear, and in order to fight the creatures, mankind creates fighter aircraft called “Daughters,” as well as the automatic fighting mechanism “Anima,” which are shaped like human girls. The story centers on a young man named Kei Narutani, who yearns to fly in the sky, and an Anima considered to be humanity’s trump card, a girl named Gripen.
Natsumi launched the series in 2014, and Kadokawa‘s Dengeki Bunkoimprint published the ninth novel volume on June 9. The 10th novel will ship in January. Asagi Tōsaka provides the illustrations for the novels. Natsumi previously worked on the series composition for Gust‘s Blue Reflection game.
Takahiro Seguchi launched a manga adaptation of the light novel series in the December issue of Kadokawa‘s Monthly Shōnen Ace magazine on October 26.
