Funimation and Hulu have joined forces in what was announced as a multi-year partnership and output deal. This marks Hulu’s largest anime programming agreement, which will expand its catalog with the addition of new subtitled and dubbed titles from Funimation.
The partnership also grants Hulu a first look at U.S. streaming video on-demand rights to future anime series Funimation plans to produce and release, starting in 2019. This will make Hulu and Funimation co-exclusive U.S. premiere homes for select new subbed and dubbed anime titles each year.
Here’s what Hulu’s VP of Content Acquisition, Lisa Holme, had to say about the deal:
“Funimation has been a longtime partner of ours, and together we have curated a full library of the most sought-after anime series from all over the world on Hulu … With this new deal, we are doubling-down on our investment to continue growing our world class anime offering with even more shows that we know our viewers love to watch.”
